Job Description
The primary duties of this position are as follows: Supervise individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities during activities, breaks, lunch, and leisure on campus and the community.
- Provides individual or group instruction to teach techniques and skills.
- Adapts materials and techniques to assist individuals in meeting goals or completing tasks.
- Monitors the performance of each individual to ensure compliance with procedures and safety regulations and to note behavior deviations.
- Examines completed assigned tasks visually and individually, to verify adherence to specifications. Re-trains individuals as needed to ensure specifications are met.
- Reassigns individual to simpler tasks when an individual cannot perform assigned tasks, or to tasks containing higher degrees of complexity as the level of competence is reached.
- Provides supervision to individuals at all times and ensures ample supervision in the community and on campus. Individuals are to be monitored at all times.
- Implements individual goal plans and behavior programs. Monitors progress toward goals and reports to Program Manager quarterly or as indicated on plan.
- Will use behavior management techniques, which include verbal praise and gestures to reinforce positive behaviors. Ignores certain behaviors when appropriate.
- Assesses the needs, strengths, and preferences of individuals.
- Writes individual training plans and amends as appropriate.
- Provide daily and monthly documentation that is accurate and clearly written.
